SeaBear's Gold Seal™ Pouch
Much of our seafood is sold flash-frozen, and shipped to you on dry ice. This technique locks
in the flavor and natural nutrients of the seafood, and provides a convenient, world-class
dining experience when you thaw and prepare the seafood at home.
A number of our other items – particularly our signature smoked salmon gift boxes – are
packaged in the Gold Seal pouch that SeaBear created and made famous many years ago. Items
in the Gold Seal pouch require no refrigeration until opened, so they are highly convenient,
particularly when shipping or giving as a gift.
Here’s how the Gold Seal Pouch works: The seafood is vacuum-sealed in the pouch, and then
gently cooked in its own juices. This process preserves the seafood naturally, so no refrigeration
is required. As long as the pouch is not opened, leaking or punctured, the seafood will stay
good for many years (we typically say at least four years, but even that is conservative). Once
opened, the food should be kept refrigerated and used within 7-10 days.
